Fragment Design was founded in the early 2000s (commonly cited as 2003–2004) by Hiroshi Fujiwara, a hugely influential figure in Japanese streetwear. Before Fragment, Fujiwara was already known for helping shape Tokyo's Harajuku streetwear scene through brands such as GOODENOUGH and for mentoring future fashion icons including NIGO and Jun Takahashi.
What makes Fragment unusual is that it isn't primarily a traditional clothing brand with large seasonal collections. Instead, it operates as a creative studio and collaboration platform. The famous double-lightning logo appears on collaborations with companies.
